ABOUT

Evaluating EV

In 2018 my wife and I invested in a brand new 30kw Nissan Leaf making use of an incredible scrappage deal, government grant and duty waiver. We saved close to €15,000 off the price of the car. Since then ‘EVy’ has been my transport and accommodation for almost all the motorsport and community events recorded by Vantage Point Video. It would not be economically viable to cover the events you see from all around Ireland by any other means. Electric transport is vital to the future of my business and ability to operate nationally. This comes at a compromise in the amount of time travelling to events. But when you get used to the routine of driving and charging, you soon find you never waste a minute while stopped and in fact when occasionally returning to fossil fuelled transport it becomes frustrating to have to defer writing emails, maintaining social media posts or processing new footage for up to 4 or 5 hours, especially because when you arrive at your destination you are likely to be busy. By simply leaving earlier, you get more done on the way, keep everything up to date and arrive refreshed and ready for work. With a temporary bunk that I designed to switch places with the rear seats I’ve solved my accommodation needs and made it luxurious with a tent extension from Micksgarage.com
